Ulf Buermeyer

Ulf Buermeyer is a judge at Berlin Superior Court and currently serving as law clerk at Berlin’s Constitutional court. 2013/2014 he was on leave and obtained a master’s degree (LL.M.) at Columbia Law School, New York City.

Since 2014 he’s also a fellow of the Centre for Internet and Human Rights (CIHR) at Europa-Universität Viadrina (Frankfurt/Oder). Judge Buermeyer’s work as a legal scholar focuses on matters of Constitutional Law (particularly civil liberties, national security law, privacy/data protection and freedom of information). He obtained a doctoral degree (Dr. iur.) from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt/Main with a thesis on “Informational Self-Determination in Correctional Institutions”.

Other than being a legal scholar, Buermeyer has been an avid programmer since his youth and financed his legal studies by working as system administrator of his law school.
