Dr. Matthew Cole studied the BVC and was called to the Bar in 2008. He then worked as an advocate before returning to academia to study his master’s in Cardiff University. After this he completed his doctorate in competition law, focusing on tying, legal-economic theory and the EU Microsoft case. Matthew then worked as lecturer in Cardiff University before moving to the University of Exeter. He is generally interested in research combining law and economics. He has particular interests in EU competition law and the economic theories upon which it is based, specifically, Ordoliberalism. He is also interested in the application of EU competition law to digital markets.
