The clinic for legal aid in times of war
Clinical director
Academic director
Since October 7, 2023, we as a society and a state are in a new and chaotic period. Besides the national and security front, this period brings to the surface legal dilemmas and violations of social rights that have not been discussed before, due to the new situation created by the war.
The clinic will address the conceptualization of new legal dilemmas, provide legal assistance to war victims, whether in realizing their rights or in their rehabilitation, and more.
Among other things, legal assistance will be provided to the following war victims (realizing rights, rehabilitation):
• Realizing the rights of evacuees
• Assistance in the rehabilitation of combat victims, including victims of sexual offenses
• Handling field centers as needed
The clinic will operate with various tools to promote a comprehensive policy to ensure justice and rights.
Note: The clinic does not deal with the laws of war, international law, or war crimes, but with the social and legal implications for all citizens of the State of Israel.
The clinic will be accompanied by a theoretical seminar led by Dr. Lihi Yona, focusing on the intersection of marginalized populations with the legal system. The seminar will be shared with the The Civil Litigation Clinic.
