The education law and policy clinic helps refugee children
The education law and policy clinic has been involved in ongoing litigation against the town of Petah Tiqva in the past 4 years because of their refusal to enroll refugee children to education institutions, and when they do so (after litigation) they enroll them to segregated kindergartens. They always say that it is too late to find them places in the general kindergartens, but of course that is because they refuse to enroll them when all children are enrolled and wait till the court forces them to do so, usually after the school year has started. After several petitions, last week an agreement was signed and given force of a court order in which the town committed to enrolling all students at the right time and to integrated kindergartens and schools! There was coverage of this decision in the local media. A great success!! We hope this will encourage Tel Aviv municipality to do the same.
