Vardit Avidan holds a second degree (LL.M) from the University of Haifa, a first degree (LL.B) from the College of Management in Rishon LeZion and is a certified mediator – a graduate of the “Hagoshrim” Institute’s mediation course.
She began her professional and social activity early in her career as a lawyer, when she worked and managed the Tmura Center – at the Legal Center for the Prevention of Discrimination (NPO). During this time, she was a partner in creating legal precedents as milestones in everything related to the secrecy of equality, especially in the context of women’s rights, with an emphasis on sexual harassment and the system’s conduct towards it. She later also worked in private frameworks such as: Charkon, Ben Ami and Nathaniel Biran Law Firm, where she specialized in labor law and tort law, with an emphasis on sexual harassment in the workplace and abuse.
In the years 2015-2024, Vardit managed the clinic for feminism and law, during which she won a prize for activity for women named after the London Yaari Foundation and received the Emil Zola Human Rights Defender Award. As a clinic manager, Vardit emphasized exposing and raising awareness of women’s rights in Israeli society and translating these rights into the legal system and vice versa.
Since 2024, Vardit directs the new clinic established following the events of October 7, 2023, the Clinic for Legal Aid in Times of War.
