Jasper van den Boom is a PhD-candidate at Tilburg University’s Institute for Law, Technology and Society (TILT), as well as a Member of the Tilburg Law & Economics Center (TILEC). His research focuses on competition in digital markets and in particular the economic regulation of digital platforms and ecosystems. The topic of his PhD is an inquiry into the suitability of natural monopoly regulation to regulate digital platforms and ecosystem, and is currently working on a paper on the assessment of long-run effects of mergers involving digital ecosystems, which will be presented on ASCOLA. Other recent works have focused on the legal hierarchy of sector-specific data-sharing obligations and the right to data portability from the General Data Protection Regulation, Cybersecurity Standards in the Netherlands and the role of competition law in promoting the rights of platform workers.
