Ružica Šimić Banović is Associate Professor at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Law, Department of Economics. She holds a PhD degree from the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana. As a Chevening scholar she received her MA in Public Policy from King’s College London, University of London in 2007. In 2010 she completed a fellowship in the Department of Economics at The George Washington University as a part of the Junior Faculty Development Program funded by the U.S. Department of State. She has also participated in numerous courses, workshops and conferences in USA, several EU countries and Russia including the LSE Summer School course ‘Political Economy of Public Policy’, Trainee programme for young SEE managers organised by CDG/InWent in Germany, Higher School of Economics in Moscow, University College London and UC Berkeley study and teaching visits. Before joining the academic community, Ružica was an adviser in the Croatian National Competitiveness Council and had worked in the private sector as well. She is a member of several expert and alumni associations. Both her educational and professional background inspired her to focus her research on institutional changes in the (post)transitional economies of Eastern Europe.
