Prof. Michael Birnhack is Associate Dean for Research at tel Aviv University, Faculty of Law. His research focuses on information law, especially privacy and intellectual property law. Michael’s current research projects address issues of big medical data, privacy by design in the public sector, surveillance in schools, and digital legacy. He served for three terms in the Israeli Council for the Protection of Privacy, was subcontractor to the EU on the matter of Israel’s data protection adequacy. At TAU he is also the director of the S. Horowitz Institute for IP in memory of Dr Amnon Goldenberg, and the Director of the Parasol Foundation International LL.M Program.
