About Us

Education has a profound effect on the opportunities that individuals have in life. Many longstanding practices within Israel's educational system have perpetuated widening economic and social disparities.  The Faculty of Law at University of Haifa believes that law can play an important role in promoting social justice in the educational system, through various different legal action – litigation, advocacy and policy change and research.

Since its establishment The Clinic for Law and Educational Policy has become a leading force in reforming the Israeli system of education. It handled hundreds of inquiries and provides legal advice, represents clients in their dealings with the Education Ministry, and when warranted files court cases. The Clinic operates throughout the year, including during vacation periods and the summer, and operates a designated 'equality in education' hotline.

The Clinic makes outreach efforts to people with little means from all sectors of the population, including asylum seekers, Ultra-orthodox families and members of the Arab-Palestinian minority, groups who suffer from systematic educational disadvantage and do not have sufficient access to legal representation and  that suffer from system and. The Clinic also handles cases from a wide geographic area, so that students living in the social and geographic periphery can receive suitable assistance.

The Clinic also places emphasis on the establishment of academic research and policy papers, to bring the voice of the "field" and "human rights" to the front Israeli discourse.
